2-Alarm Blaze Displaces Five Cupertino Residents

CUPERTINO, CA — A two-alarm fire that started in Cupertino late Sunday night damaged a two-story home and displaced five residents, officials said. The blaze broke out at 11:55 p.m. in the 20600 block of Cheryl Drive in Cupertino, the Santa Clara County Fire Department said in a release posted on Twitter. Firefighters found the home heavily involved in the fire upon arrival and were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent homes. The home's five occupants were evacuated to safety. No injuries were reported and the occupants did not require assistance from the Red Cross. The home sustained fire damage throughout. Firefighters brought the blaze under control at around 1 a.m. Crews remained on the scene until about 5:30 a.m. to fully extinguish the blaze and help with cleanup. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
