WWE Los Angeles, CA - Hiking 101 Class & Hike | Saturday, March 26 - 9 a.m. On this adventure we will be learning the essential skills that every hiker, no matter the proficiency level, needs to know about hiking! These basic skills will serve to protect you from common errors that can lead to disaster. Most search and rescue situations happen because of hikers who did not take basic precautions before starting their hike. Whether you are a social hiker, a novice, or are interested in becoming an avid hiker, this class is perfect for you! We will be starting off this class at a picnic area in Griffith park where I will demonstrate the ` "10 essentials of hiking". From there we will learn about the different types of hiking, trails and why it is important for us to plan and prepare! After the 2 hours and 30-minute class, we will then go on a brief 1 mile hike around the West Observatory in the famous Griffith Park. This will be a perfect opportunity to demonstrate some of the hiking skills you learned during our class period. The hike is an easy loop starting at Fern dell, a woodsy glen at the lower end of Western Canyon in Griffith Park, where we will loop around the observatory and return back to the picnic area. This trail is rated easy with 600ft of elevation. Please plan on carrying snacks and a half days supply(1-2L) of water with you. ** PLEASE NOTE: This is a women-only event. Ambassador is wilderness first aid certified, maps trained and LNT certified.
