Hosted by MAGGIE NOLTING, CARLY BIDNER, SHELBY BARTELSTEIN, ERIN BRADY, CHELSEA LONDON LLOYD & The ExCamps Regional Advisory Committee. Come mingle with counselors who have volunteered here in the past, hear special guest speakers (including campers) and find out why volunteering here is the best week ever! Have you been looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Have you experienced loss or are you experiencing anticipatory loss? Looking for like-minded 20-30 somethings who just get it? We got you. Note: While many people in our community have experienced the loss of a parent or sibling, you do not have to have lost someone to participate. All are welcome! WHO/WHAT: Experience Camps is a nonprofit that champions the nation’s 5.3 million U.S. children who will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the time they reach 18. We run a network of no-cost camps that help grieving children thrive by building their coping resources, confidence, and resilience so they can experience a life rich with possibility. Our content addresses childhood grief as an urgent health issue while helping to establish a more grief-sensitive culture for all of us. Experience Camps are free one-week camps that help grieving kids build resilience. WHEN: Saturday, March 5th 2-5pm WHERE: Stella Barra Santa Monica, 2000 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405 WHY: Did you know that 1 in 5 children will experience the death of someone close to them by age 18? Over the last five years, our demand for camp has increased 500% and COVID-19 means tens of thousands more kids are now being impacted by childhood grief. Our 5-year goal is to double the number of kids attending camp and expand our reach and resources to millions more. OTHER: Proof of vaccination required. Cash bar. Free pizza & cookies provided.
