TAMPA, FL — A 31-year-old Tampa woman was killed when her sports utility vehicle broke down on Interstate 275, was struck by two other vehicles and then caught fire. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:43 a.m. Wednesday, the woman was driving north on I-275 south of State Road 60 when her SUV broke down in the inside lane. A van driven by a 29-year-old Tampa man and a car driven by a 38-year-old St. Petersburg man, also heading north on I-275 in the inside lane, struck the SUV in successive order. All three vehicles rotated, blocking all northbound lanes of I-275, and the SUV caught fire. The fire quickly engulfed the SUV and the drivers of the two other vehicles were unable to rescue the woman inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers were not injured. The crash closed the northbound lanes of I-275 until 9:30 a.m.
