SARASOTA, FL — A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding across University Parkway in Sarasota on Friday. The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The 65-year-old cyclist was riding south on North Tuttle Avenue, police said. As the cyclist attempted to cross the travel lanes of University Parkway, they were struck by a vehicle traveling westbound in the center lane of University Parkway. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the crash should contact them or Crimestoppers.
