POLL: Tina Smith's Lead With Suburban Voters Disappears

MINNESOTA — A new poll shows that the race for the U.S. Senate seat in Minnesota is in a dead heat. In a matter of weeks, Sen. Tina Smith's lead has shrunk down from a double-digit lead to a near-tie. A KSTP/SurveyUSA poll found that Smith leads her Republican challenger, Jason Lewis, 43 percent to 42 percent. Another 12 percent of voters are undecided, the poll finds. According to KSTP, "Smith's lead among women and suburban voters has largely evaporated." "As we enter the final two weeks and more and more voters vet the candidates and pay attention to the race, it's no surprise I have closed the gap by ten points since September, making this a one point race," Jason Lewis said in a news release. "Tina Smith has been hunkered down in the basement and brazenly refusing to denounce Democrats' schemes to pack the Supreme Court as well as the newly unearthed Biden pay to play corruption scheme." Lewis said the poll "proves that Donald Trump and I have all the momentum in this election." In an email to supporters, Smith's campaign sounded the alarm about her race. "A new poll out of Minnesota shows us locked in a statistical tie with Jason Lewis," her team wrote. The email continued, noting that Smith's Senate race "could go either way, but we have a great team — and despite these polls, we're in a position to win this thing. But even one poll can send a signal to our opponent and McConnell's network of super PACs and billionaires to spend as much as they can to take Tina down."
