TWIN CITIES, MN — In a matter of hours, the polls will open in Minnesota and thousands of residents will cast their ballots in the presidential election. Though the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" hasn't been won by a Republican presidential candidate since the 1970s, President Donald Trump has spent much of his time and resources here throughout the 2020 campaign. Trump has been vocal about how close he came to winning Minnesota in 2016. He lost to Hillary Clinton by less than 45,000 votes, and he's said in the past that "one more speech" would have made the difference. Yet Democratic challenger Joe Biden has never trailed in Minnesota this year. However, his lead has diminished in recent weeks. As of Nov. 2, the current Real Clear Politics poll average is 4.3. That's down from more than 11 points in September. According to Political, Minnesota is one of the eight important states where the presidential election will be "won" come Tuesday.
