SAN PEDRO, CA — A woman died after falling 100 feet off a cliff in Southern California on Saturday, authorities said.
The woman, who was in her 20s, was seen by a witness, who reportedly saw her jump off the cliff at Point Fermin in San Pedro just before 11 a.m., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A firefighter was injured during the hoist rescue attempt but they were in "fair" condition when they were being taken to a hospital.
The identity of the woman was not immediately released.
