Jazz Bakery Hosts Live 'Concerts At Home' Series

CULVER CITY, CA — Music and art don't stop just because of the pandemic. Jazz Bakery will feature pianist Sam Hirsh playing live from his living room Saturday, part of a new livestream concert series. With concerts and festivals on pause during the coronavirus pandemic, it's an important time for live, virtual performances—both for artists and their audiences. "I think the world is missing music," performer Sam Hirsh told Patch. "Music is such an inspiring, intimate experience and if you go for even a week without having that experience or a month—and now it's been four or five months here—people are really hungry for that experience." Viewers can expect to hear about 50 minutes to an hour of music, Hirsh said. So far, it's the third livestream he's done during quarantine and the coronavirus outbreak, he said. "All the funding goes to keeping this concert series going, so hopefully this is the start of many more until we can go back to live performing," Hirsh told Patch. Concerts are free but donations are accepted to keep the series going and supported in the future. People can offer tax-deductible donations to the organization. "This performance is made possible in part by the City of Culver City and its Cultural Affairs Commission, with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Culver City Arts Foundation," the group said via Instagram. The Jazz Bakery is accepting donations to help support their future and this concert series. Jazz Bakery was founded in 1992 by jazz vocalist and educator Ruth Price. The nonprofit hosts performances throughout Los Angeles and now offers virtual concerts in the wake of the pandemic.
