PORTLAND, OR — TriMet's FX service is coming soon and no, it has nothing to do with a Fox-owned property. The FX stands for Frequent Express. TriMet says that FX will "be a new high-capacity bus service for faster and more reliable trips. When the new service is fully up and running this fall, 60-foot-long buses – the buses that are like two buses combined – will travel the routes. Those buses will also be "green," according to TriMet.. While the service won't be fully operational until September of so, TriMet is giving riders on the Number 2 line, which runs on Division, a sneak preview. Four of the new bus stations being built for the service are opening this Sunday. Each of the stations is a different type of design: The 20th and Division eastbound station will be a "pedestrian bypass design," The 20th and Division westbound station will be a "pedestrian pass through design,"The 26th and Division westbound will also be "pedestrian pass through,"The 112th and Division eastbound will be a "shared bike and pedestrian design.""We"re excited to open these stations for Line 2 riders now for a better customer experience," Division Transit Project Project Manager Michael Kiser said. "We appreciate everyone's patience as we complete all the stations, add in more amenities and get ready for the better bus service coming to the Division Street corridor." You can read more about Division Transit Project's four station types here. TriMet says that when completed, the project will provide: Bus stations located where rider demand is greatest will minimize travel times while providing important transit connections.Platforms with higher curbs mean less kneeling for buses, plus all-door boarding and space for bikes on board will reduce stop times.Weather protection, seating and TransitTracker™ at stations make catching the bus more comfortable.Longer, articulated buses have room for 60% more riders, andService every 12 minutes, and more often during peak hours, provides more convenient options for more people to get around.
