CARLSBAD, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train Friday in San Diego's North County. An Amtrak train hit a man around 9:15 a.m. just north of the Carlsbad Village Station in the 2700 block of State Street in Carlsbad, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene. "Deputies are investigating the incident," sheriff's Deputy Christopher Campbell said.
