Culver City Receives $6.6 Million In COVID-19 Funds For Buses

CULVER CITY, CA — U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao Wednesday announced that $6.6 million will be provided to the Culver CityBus service in COVID-19 relief funding. The funding is part of $35.2 million in grant awards to three transit providers in California as part of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, and $25 billion in total planned funding nationwide. "This historic $25 billion in grant funding will ensure our nation's public transportation systems can continue to provide services to the millions of Americans who continue to depend on them," Chao said. The U.S. Department of Transportation issued guidelines consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for COVID-19 response as a contingent of the funding. "We know many of our nation's public transportation systems are facing extraordinary challenges and these funds will go a long way to assisting our transit industry partners in battling COVID-19," Federal Transportation Acting Administrator K. Jane Williams said.
