Local Mineola couple faced with two tragic pregnancy losses in less than a year and a half are looking for answers and help to grow their family. Mineola, NY - February 2022 Laura and Rick Franchella lost their son Leo on July 25, 2020, at 20 weeks due to health issues (hydrocephalus and cardiac defect), and their daughter Sophia on August 25, 2021, at 29 weeks for reasons unknown. Extensive genetic testing, autopsy, amniocentesis, and multiple doctor consultations have yielded no information as to why their two children have passed in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. For this married couple of three years, starting a family is their ultimate purpose in life, but they are losing hope and need your help. Rick and Laura have been a part of helping families in their careers for 10+ years each - Rick as an elementary school teacher and Laura as a speech-language pathologist. Over the years, they both have heard “you’ll make a great parent one day.” They would do anything to make this come true. Rick’s brother started a GoFundMe campaign to help them do just that.
