As Patch reported earlier this week, Lake has represented District 2 on the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education since 2020 and announced his resignation from the seat after taking a new job that would conflict with his elected office.
The application period will be open until noon on Monday, March 7. Applicants will be considered by the TCSS Board, with the candidate selected serving out the remainder of the unexpired term through November 2026.
Schools in District 2 include those north of the Black Warrior River, such as: Collins-Riverside Intermediate, Crestmont Elementary, Echols Middle, Faucett-Vestavia Elementary, Huntington Place Elementary, Matthews Elementary, Northport Elementary, Northport Intermediate, Northside High, Northside Middle, Tuscaloosa County High, and Walker Elementary.
The Tuscaloosa County School System, in its announcement, also provided a long list of criteria for prospective candidates. Click here to learn more.
TCSS says interested candidates are required to email or hand deliver their completed application packet to TCSS Board Attorney Ray Ward by the deadline date.
