Man Points Gun At Officer's Chest, Faces Attempted Murder: Police

BALDWIN, NY — A man was taken into custody for pointing a gun at an officer in Baldwin, police said. A blue Hyundai was traveling southbound in Roosevelt, just before 9 p.m. on Thursday night. The vehicle had a broken front headlight and officers attempted to do a traffic stop. However, David Debose, 18, of Uniondale, refused to stop. He drove to Valdur Court, where he left the car and continued on foot, police said. They gave chase as he attempted to climb a fence. As police approached, Debose turned and pointed a pistol at the chest of one of the officers, detectives said. Debose tossed the weapon and continued to flee. He was stopped a short time later and placed under arrest. A loaded .45 caliber handgun was recovered from the scene, police said. Debose, who was expected to be arraigned on Friday, faces a slew of charges including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and menacing a police officer.
