CULVER CITY, CA — It's still unclear if Culver City students will continue distance learning or head back to classrooms when the school year picks up again on August 10. Culver City Unified School District hasn't announced a plan yet about whether students will head back into the classroom for fall 2020. The district will meet virtually Tuesday night to continue the expected discussion about reopening schools in the district amid spiking coronavirus case numbers across Los Angeles County, Geoff Maleman, spokesperson for the district, told Patch. Los Angeles Unified School District announced Monday that campuses will remain closed when school starts in the fall, defying President Donald Trump's demand that students return to in-person instruction. School districts across California are determining what measures to take once summer ends. In Orange County, the board of education will determine Monday night if schools will reopen in the fall. In Santa Monica and Malibu, questions remain about how schools will reopen this fall semester. The district held a series of virtual meetings with parents to determine its plan for fall but hasn't announced the final plan yet.
