Large Parrot Sanctuary: We adopt large breed birds and we also refer to local adoption centers that are reputable. We give our birds daily attention, toys and fresh fruits and vegetables 3-4x weekly along with Mazuri pellet diet used by the Oakland zoo. We are located on a large protected ranch. If you want your birds to go to a good home please call and I’ll give you the insight needed. Many people become sick or they move and they want the birds to go to good homes. We have the facility and help to care for your birds. This is not a backyard operation. There are some good adoption facilities and there are some very bad adoption agencies. Unfortunately there are people on Craigslist that buy birds cheap and resell them and the birds get bounced around and this is very stressful for the bird. Stress weakens a birds immune response. If you have seen birds that are plucked it’s usually out of stress, lack of Vitamin D from the sun and a poor diet. Damaged feathers can be a variety of issues including bird mites or lack of bathing. Bird mites love living on birds that do not get regular baths. Willing to pay adoption fee within reason.
