GWATFL MAP Early Language Initiative would like to bring together educators from the DMV area to connect, collaborate and brainstorm ideas, initiatives, and possible Professional Development opportunities to address the specific needs of the early language teachers. Throughout her career, she has been committed to creating inspiring, meaningful, and joyous activities that motivate students to thrive and become life-long learners. She has been teaching Spanish in grades preschool through 2nd grade at The Langley School in McLean, Virginia since her move from Puerto Rico five years ago. Glenda received her B.A. in Humanities with a concentration in Modern Languages from the University of Puerto Rico and her M.A. in Curriculum and Education from the Metropolitan University in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has been a presenter at ACTFL and GWATFL conferences, and she is always looking for ways to learn, grow, and be challenged. Besides education, Glenda loves reading, exercising, cooking, collecting quotes, dancing, music, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her happy place is at the beach near her hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico, with a book or loud music, and surrounded by her family under a bright, hot sun. Follow Glenda on Twitter @glendadehoyos. GWATFL is a non-profit organization focused on advocacy and professional development for World Language teachers in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland. GWATFL has been serving world language educators in the DC area since 1965. GWATFL organizes two conferences for World language teachers a year. One in the Spring and one in the Fall. GWATFL also offers live streaming events.
