FULL-TIME VEGETABLE COORDINATOR AND GREENHOUSE PROPAGATION ASSISTANT Annie’s Annuals & Perennials, located in Richmond, CA, is a nationally recognized, trend-setting plant nursery offering one of the largest selections of rare and unusual annuals and perennials to be found anywhere. Our offerings include exclusive plant introductions, California natives, cottage garden heirlooms, and Mediterranean climate varieties from around the world. The majority of our plants are grown from seed without the use of growth hormones, systemic pesticides or neonicotinoids. Our on-site R&D facility and 3.5-acre nursery are a botanical and pollinator wonderland! Annie’s focus on plant education makes gardening accessible to everyone – from beginning gardeners to lifelong enthusiasts. Our business is comprised of retail, wholesale, mail order and web sales. Annie’s is looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic person to join our propagation department. The ideal candidate would have experience growing vegetables, and would be familiar with nursery and/or retail work. This person’s primary focus would be to oversee all of our vegetables from the seed stage onto sales-floor. During the off-season when the demands of that department are not as high, they would assist with other aspects of propagation. Duties • Seed Sowing o Adhering to a bi-weekly sowing schedule o Filling trays with soil and sowing vegetable seeds o Watering and maintenance of young vegetable plants o Printing and applying tags prior to moving plants to Retail • Retail o Consolidating and up-stocking vegetable section daily o Moving young plants from propagation area to retail tables, and keeping area organized and shop-able  Meeting delivery truck and moving plants to retail tables as needed o Weekly fertilization and maintenance of vegetables o Ability to assist and advise customers in the vegetable department • Propagation o Assisting with other propagation duties including ornamental seed sowing and cutting, potting up mother stock, as well as weeding and other grounds maintenance o Clean and process collected seed for Propagation Dept. as needed o There is potential for office propagation duties as well, including database maintenance, scheduling, involvement in plant introductions, etc. Qualifications and Skills • Be available to work 5 consecutive days, 40 hours per week • Be able and willing to work in all weather conditions • Be able to lift 35 pounds – This is a physical job. • Spanish speaking skills are a plus Documentation of Covid Vaccination/Booster required or receive an approved exemption
