CONCORD, CA — An 18-year-old Concord man was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries Monday night when he was struck by a car at an on-ramp to state Highway 4, the California Highway Patrol said. The young man was found suffering major injuries when CHP and other emergency personnel responded to a report at 9:15 p.m. that a pedestrian was down in the roadway at the Port Chicago Highway on-ramp to eastbound Highway 4, CHP Contra-Costa officials said.
The injured pedestrian was taken to John Muir Health, Walnut Creek Medical Center where he was listed in life-threatening, critical condition, the CHP said Tuesday morning.
The driver who struck the pedestrian was not at the scene, nor was the involved vehicle, but CHP said they've since located a person of interest and vehicle of interest.
CHP's investigation into the hit-and-run crash was continuing, as officers were still working to gather information.
Anyone who has information about the collision or events leading up to it is urged to call the CHP Office in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
