Woman Injured After Ceiling Collapses Inside Dorchester Apartment

DORCHESTER, MA — A woman was injured after the ceiling gave way inside a Boston neighborhood apartment Friday morning. Emergency teams responded to the scene at 1593 Dorchester Ave. just before 7:30 a.m. to find the woman was suffering from what Boston police called non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and is expected to be okay, Boston police said. According to WHDH, the woman is 25-years-old and pregnant. Building inspectors and firefighters investigated the roof, finding it to be stable and the rest of the building was not at risk, officials said. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation. No additional information was immediately available.
