BOSTON — The Boston Police Department is warning residents that scammers have been targeting parents in the area claiming their children have been kidnapped and demanding money for their safe return.
Two recent incidents have prompted an investigation by BPD Detectives who say thankfully, none of the children involved were actually at risk, but one parent gave several thousand dollars to the unidentified scammers through digital transactions.
Anyone who receives a similar call should contact the Boston Police Department immediately. If you believe you have been targeted by a call like that, police are asking you to please note the phone number where the call originated and file a report with the Boston Police Department.
