By John Gibson, WNIN February 17, 2022 Two more COVID-19 fatalities have been recorded in Vanderburgh County. The Indiana Department of Health raised Vanderburgh's pandemic death toll to 564 on the Tuesday dashboard. The number of new infections in southwest Indiana showed declines, with 62 in Vanderburgh, 20 in Warrick, 19 in Gibson, and just three in Posey County. Vanderburgh's seven-day positivity rate was down to about 18 percent. The number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12 county region of southwest Indiana fell below 200 to 184 with about 23 percent of intensive care bed available. Statewide, Indiana saw 64 more deaths but a smaller increase in infections compared to recent reports: 1,469. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana.
