TINLEY PARK, IL — A Tinley Park resident partnered with the Tinley Park Police Department to donate almost 50 stuffed animals for officers to gift children on the scene of calls involving abuse or neglect, officials said last week.
Becky Boone made each stuffed dog by hand with the intention of bringing comfort to children in difficult situations.
"We want to thank Becky for her wonderful work making these stuffed dogs," Deputy Police Chief Larry Rafferty said. "They'll help a lot of children through some tough times."
The department told Patch they will give some of the stuffed dogs to the Children's Advocacy Center which deals with child abuse cases in the south suburbs. Rafferty said he hopes police and the center can work together more in the future on projects such as Boone's.
