MINNETONKA, MN — Alcohol was involved in a fatal wrong-way crash that happened in Minnetonka early Friday morning, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
Just before 4 a.m., a Jeep Wrangler entered the wrong way onto the eastbound lanes of Interstate 394 from 6th street in downtown Minneapolis, according to authorities.
The Jeep continued the wrong way and struck a Chrysler Sebring head-on at Plymouth Road in Minnetonka, police said.
The 30-year-old driver of the Sebring was killed. A 21-year-old passenger in the Sebring was transported to the Hennepin Couty Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Wrangler, a 20-year-old from Saint Anthony, was taken to North Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said alcohol was in his system.
