TUCSON, AZ — Put on your cowboy boots because Fiesta de los Vaqueros is back in Tucson in 2022. After a 2021 cancellation because of COVID-19, the 95th annual event is set to begin Saturday. Fiesta de los Vaqueros, or celebration cowboys, spans two weekends and centers around the Tucson Rodeo, but also includes the Tucson Rodeo Parade. The Tucson Rodeo is one of the top 25 rodeos on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit, according to Visit Tucson, and the parade is known as the longest horse-drawn parade in the world. What you need to know before you go to the Tucson Rodeo When: Feb. 19-20 and Feb. 24-27. Gates open daily at 11 a.m. and the junior rodeo begins at 12:30 p.m. The professional rodeo starts daily at 2 p.m. and ends around 4 p.m. The Coors Barn Dance begins when the rodeo ends. There are limited events Feb. 21-23. Where: The Tucson Rodeo Grounds, 4823 S. 6th Ave. in Tucson. Tickets: Prices range from $18-$80. Parking: $7 per day to park at the rodeo grounds. What you need to know before you go to the Tucson Rodeo Parade What: A horse-drawn parade that typically draws around 150,000 onlookers to watch 150 western-theme floats and buggies, Mexican folk dancers and musical groups, according to Visit Tucson. When: 9 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 24. Where: Begins at Park Avenue and Ajo Way and heads south on Park Avenue to Irvington Road. Tickets: Tickets to watch the parade from grandstand seating at Irvington and South 6th Avenue are $10 for adults and $5 for kids younger than 13. Call 520-294-1280 for tickets.
