Here are the top stories in Smithtown today: Come to Katie's of Smithtown this Saturday night, Feb. 19 help raise money for a new food truck and listen to rock and rollers of local notoriety. The $20 cover charge will go directly to purchasing a new truck. The bar and music venue's food truck was destroyed in a Nov. 23 fire; the truck's insurance did not cover the damages. (GreaterMoriches)How exciting! The Strong Island Derby Revolution is getting ready to wow us with its season opener 8 p.m. April 2 in St. James. The doors of the Sports Arena, at 620 Middle Country Road, are set to open an hour before the first whistle. Strong Island Revolution tickets can be purchased here. Tickets start at $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Children under 8 can get in for free. A petition has been sent out to resident to help protect East Islip Lanes from becoming a senior living facility and has been signed by nearly 900 people. A spokesperson for Benchmark Senior Living sent a statement to The Real Deal, saying in part, "Benchmark Senior Living is in the early stages of planning for this project and is conducting community outreach to disseminate information and give the community an opportunity to provide input." (The Real Deal)Four men forced their way into a Coram home and shot one victim, police officials said. Eric Westby, a 46-year-old man who lives at the house, was killed, police said, while the other victim, a woman who also lives there, was pistol-whipped. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. (Patch)First responders at a Selden house fire Wednesday night found a person dead inside the residence, Suffolk police said. The fire broke out at a home on Magnolia Drive near Talbot Lane, according to police, who said officers responded to the fire about 6:40 p.m. Additional information, including the identity of the victim or how the fire started, was not immediately available.
