Maggie was born at 24 weeks, weighed 11.75 ounces and was 9 inches long on June 28, 2013. Her mom, Jillian, has 3 auto-immune disease that caused her to have an emergency C-section to save Maggie. Like Maggie, many babies are born too early but thanks to the March of Dimes and their research, Maggie was part of a study for extra surfactant to help develop her lungs faster. It WORKED!. Maggie has had rickets, chronic lung disease, PDA ligation that was almost impossible due to her size and physical condition, pneumonia, pseudomonas, laser eye surgery for retinopathy of prematurity and more - all while in the NICU.
