Bonsai Society of Dallas’ 2022 Annual Society Bonsai Show NHG is proud to welcome back this yearly event that celebrates and values age in miniature. We invite you to view a beautiful and diverse selection of bonsai trees, carefully trained and grown by the society’s members. While you view the show, you can learn about this ancient technique, get your questions answered, and see trees of all ages and in various stages of their development. Attend the live repotting demos, and see how it’s all done. You can even cast your vote for our ‘Best in Show’ contest. Drop by our classroom, and don’t miss this chance to see some truly beautiful plants elevated to art! Trees-in-Training Repotting Demos: 10:00-11:30am: 20-year-old Japanese Black Pine (Pinus thunbergia)-- Watch as an earlier repotting from 3 years ago is completed using the Half Bare Root method. 1:00-2:30pm: 25–30-year-old Japanese Larch (Larix kaempferi)—Watch a full repotting of this rare species for Texas, which can thrive with proper care. Join us once again for a weekend of beautiful bonsai as we bring together member's trees for an annual showing.  For 2019, many new varieties of trees will be on display, along with the traditionally displayed elements such as stands, companion plants, and painted scrolls. Experience the peaceful contemplation and learn more about the timeless beauty of this ancient art, and vote for your favorite tree. You may be inspired to become a member and create your own! Founded in 1965, The Bonsai Society of Dallas strives to share this wonderful art form in an open and informal fashion and welcomes all who have an interest. Monthly lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops are geared to the novice as well as the experienced enthusiast, and are held monthly at North Haven Gardens on the first Saturday of each month 9am - 12pm.
