Compensation: $20-22 per hour depending on experience and aptitude. A proficiency skills test will be part of the application and interview process. Employment Type: full-time Concrete Batch Plant Loader/Plant Operator Trainee Northgate Ready Mix is a growing family owned and operated company hiring now. We have an immediate opening for a full-time year-round Heavy Equipment Operator Trainee. This is a lower level “Trainee” position and the successful candidate will be trained to operate a variety of heavy equipment and processing equipment, which may include: rubber tire front end loaders, excavators, material handling equipment, skid steer loaders, aerial lift equipment, concrete batch plants, and portable crushing equipment at one or more facility. Additional duties will include maintaining and cleaning all equipment, keeping track of equipment utilization, performing inspections and maintaining records. Once hired, the candidate will perform other manual tasks as needed including some light warehouse and inventory tracking. Maintenance and repair skills not required but a huge plus for the most desired candidate. This position is diverse & requires commitment to working on a team. Work day may include: Concrete retaining wall block form cleaning, stripping, setting up and pouring, pressure washer cleaning equipment, run and repair heavy equipment used for concrete recycling, conduct general facility maintenance and minor repairs as needed, assist with major mechanical, electrical and welding repairs and maintenance to plant and equipment as needed, forklift loading and unloading, service truck as needed, general yard cleaning by shovel and heavy equipment, follow general safety rules, reading manuals and safety documents, utilize protective clothing and equipment, reports safety hazards and incidents to supervisors, special/other projects as assigned by management. Working near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. Requirements: Positive attitude and willingness to learn General working knowledge of hand tools. Safety Conscious Valid Class “C” Driver License and Insurable. Ability to multi-task and work independently Ability to complete daily activities according to work schedule. Ability to lift 75 pounds or more, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions in English. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object. Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm two hands) and multi-limb coordination. Noise level is generally loud. Must be able to quickly move arms and legs. Excellent stamina is required. Ability to work in current weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat, rain, dust, and wind. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, climb ladders, work on elevated platforms as high as 50’ off the ground. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision & ability to focus. Employee may be asked to work weekends and after hour shifts, i.e., special events/emergency, based on operational necessity. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (in some cases extreme heat/cold), heights, confined spaces, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, concrete dusts, cement powder, fly ash, concrete admixture, high pressure air systems and wet conditions. The noise level in the work environment may be very loud. Applicant must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Will be subject to random drug screening, if hired.
