ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A tw0-year-old homicide investigation culminated in an indictment Wednesday as Spring Valley resident Jack Ramirez was accused of shooting Juvenson Paul on Jan. 21, 2020. Police were called to 7 Prospect Gardens in Spring Valley at 10:30 p.m. that night when a car crashed into the townhouse. A body was in the car, and police discovered the man had been shot dead before the crash. He was identified as Paul, a 28-year-old Spring Valley resident. An extensive two-year investigation by the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the DA's Office resulted in Ramirez' arrest for the murder. Ramirez was already incarcerated at the Dutchess County jail on unrelated gun charges, the Spring Valley Police Department said. On Wednesday, a Rockland County Grand Jury indicted Ramirez, 20, of Spring Valley on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. "Today's indictment is the culmination of a thorough investigation and great police work by the Spring Valley Police Department," Walsh said. "A special thanks to the detectives from the Spring Valley Police Department for working closely with my office to ensure justice is served. I can only hope this news brings some comfort to the family and friends of Juvenson Paul." Ramirez was arraigned on the indictment before the Honorable Larry J. Schwartz in RocklandCounty Court and was sent to jail. He is scheduled to return to court on March 1. This case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Dugandzic and Supervising Assistant District Attorney Ryan Sweeney. It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
