Description

We are parents of children attending Wellesley Public Schools and are writing in strong support of Craig Mack for Wellesley School Committee. Over the last few weeks, we have had the opportunity to analyze the aims and objectives of both candidates running for the School Committee and juxtapose that with the goals and desires we have for our children's education. As parents, we value the opportunity to send our children to schools that strive for academic excellence, and we believe it is just as important for schools to celebrate individual difference and nurture a community of belonging. We want our children to receive an education that is more enriching than that which can be measured by a standardized test score alone. We believe that pursuing academic excellence for all students can, and should, be done in conjunction with honoring diversity, equity, and inclusion in our schools. We need leaders with holistic approaches to our children's education. Craig's honest and practical approach sets him apart. His commitment to multiple priorities mirror the multiple priorities we have for our children: maintain high educational standards; support mental, emotional, and physical well-being; strengthen our community through engagement, compassion and a sense of belonging; and ensure there is equity for a more fair and inclusive environment. We urge you to join us and vote for Craig Mack for School Committee on March 1. Christen Deveney, Miriam Gates, Katherine Hala, Jenny Kim and Niki Ofenloch
