Description
WALPOLE, MA - Walpole residents looking for a steal on used goods may find items put up for auction by the Walpole Police Department online beginning March 9.
Detective Sergeant Ian Tolland explained that all property is sold or disposed of in accordance with Massachusetts General law if it goes unclaimed by the owner.
"All of the property has been brought to the station," he said. "None of it is evidence. All of the stuff turned in is considered lost property. We like to advertise it to make people aware."
Any property that is not claimed will either be destroyed or sold by means of an online auction on PropertyRoom.com beginning on or after March 9.
"This is the website used by many police departments," Toland said.
The items to be auctioned are in as-is condition and are in no way guaranteed or under warranty by the Walpole Police Department or the Town of Walpole. Proof of ownership must be demonstrated.
Any person who believes they may have unclaimed property being held by the Walpole Police Department or that is currently up for auction, cal reach Tolland at 508-668-1212 to determine if they have a claim to the property.
