Description
Hello to Our Farmingdale Family, I am writing to you today in my role as the Chairperson of the Volunteer and the Olympic Village Committees for the Long Island North Special Olympic Games. This special event will be held at our own Sports Complex and Aquatic Center located at Howitt Middle School on May 21, 2022. There are a number of ways you can get involved to support this important event. The entire event is run by volunteers, which means we need your help! Volunteer InformationIf you are interested in becoming a volunteer for the Long Island North Special Olympics, please use the link below to register. The link will take you to a portal where you can select a job that interests you. For example, you can choose to volunteer to be a marshal for a track and field event or you can volunteer to be a medal ceremony leader. If you are unsure what may interest you, you can sign up as a General Volunteer. Registering to become a volunteer is easy. After clicking on the link below, click on the button that reads "Long Island Spring Games." That will take you to a page that is specific to the event we are hosting here in Farmingdale. Descriptions of each job are available for your review. You will need to register if you have not volunteered for a Special Olympics event in the past. The minimum age requirement to volunteer is 14 without an adult, however, if with an adult volunteers can be younger. If you are looking to volunteer a younger group of students (ie. Scouts, Sports Teams, Clubs, etc.), please send an email to the following email address: [email protected] This option may be best suited for some of our younger Dalers who are looking to volunteer their time. VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION LINK Olympic Village InformationIf you are a business owner or if you are connected to an outside organization that is interested in getting involved, you can also host a table for the day of the event. Those that host a table will be asked to create a fun game or activity for the athletes during periods of inactivity. Some examples include but are not limited to arts and crafts, music performances, and sports games. If you are interested in hosting a table for the event, please fill out the Google Form below. We will reach out to you in the months to come to ensure that you are prepared for the big day.
