Here are the top 3 stories in Buffalo today: A flood warning is in effect in Erie County until 10 a.m. today, and a flood watch will remain in effect across Western New York until 7 p.m. this evening. Several roads across Erie County closed yesterday due to flooding, including parts of Transit Road, Amsdell Road, and Heinrich Roads. The Stevenson Street bridge over Cazenovia Creek has also closed temporarily. (WIVB.com - News 4) The city is holding a training program next week for residents interested in becoming pool lifeguards for the upcoming summer season. The program will run Feb. 21-25 and is available to swimmers between the ages of 16 and 21. The city says 30-40 applicants have already signed up to participate in the training program and vie for the six lifeguard positions that are currently open. (Spectrum News)The University at Buffalo has been awarded a $500,000 grant by Empire State Development to help promote life science innovation across the state. The funds will be used to implement a new 12-credit Life Science Entrepreneurship program for full-time MBA students, equipping them with skills to launch and grow their own life sciences businesses. The initiative is led by Bob Neubert, clinical assistant professor of entrepreneurship in the UB School of Management.
