MOORESVILLE, NC — While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has thrown a wrench into many summer plans, children in Iredell County now have an option for outdoor activities at county parks that also incorporates social distancing. Iredell County Parks and Recreation is offering "Fun In The Sun" sessions — a new outdoor activity program for kids ages 5 through 11 set to begin in July. "These 2-hour outdoor activity sessions are a great way for your child to get out of the house, have some fun, and get some exercise!" say organizers. Activities include dance parties, guest speakers, crafts, games and more. The two-hour outdoor sessions cost $20 each session, and will be offered at different county parks on Mondays and Wednesdays, weather permitting. "Due to shared surfaces/sanitization and distancing requirements, we will not be using playgrounds at these facilities," organizers said." Parents will also be required to fill out a health questionnaire at drop-off for each session, and campers who have been exposed to COVID-19 or who may be exhibiting symptoms will not be permitted to stay. For more information about the Fun In The Sun sessions, contact Iredell County Parks and Recreation at 704-878-3103.
