Description

Ted Cohen/Patch.com Former Maine Gov. Paul LePage, who's been mixing drinks since he left office, wants a third term. LePage handed in nominating petitions as he rallied supporters outside the governor's mansion and statehouse. The GOP firebrand who has repeatedly said he "was Trump before Trump was Trump," is seeking to oust a first-term governor, Democrat Janet Mills. "We need the state to be prosperous," said LePage, who served 2011-2019. Since leaving the governor's office, LePage has still been serving - drinks, that is, at McSeagull's in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Meanwhile the current governor defended her stewardship, saying the state is booming economically despite the COVID pandemic.
