Here are the top three stories in Charleston today: Investigators with the Charleston Fire Department continue their investigation into the massive West Ashley apartment complex fire. The fire occurred in the morning hours of Feb. 7 at the Palms Apartments and resulted in the displacement of almost 200 residents. The department continues to ask Charleston residents for any footage and photos they might have of the fire. (Live 5 News WCSC)Wedding planners and vendors are bracing for the massive increase in weddings that will be hitting the Charleston area. Many 2020 and 2021 weddings were postponed or canceled during the pandemic, and now they're being rescheduled for 2022. The lifting of restrictions on large gatherings and travel is pushing the Lowcountry's wedding popularity. (ABC NEWS 4)On Thursday, Cindy Coats, a member of the Charleston County School District board, announced her candidacy for state superintendent of education. Coats is part of the Republican party and seeks to put families first, according to statements related to her campaign.
