WOODBURY, MN — More than 250 people from around the Woodbury area teamed up last weekend to raise more than $67,000 to support Special Olympics in Minnesota. The 8th annual Woodbury Polar Plunge saw hundreds of people jump into the bone-chilling Carver Lake on Saturday to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. This year's event brought in $67,121, meaning the Woodbury Polar Plunge has raised almost $750,000 since its inception, according to the official website. The "Lake Elmo Bank Lake Leapers" team collected the most donations of any group at the Woodbury Polar Plunge, adding $7,527 to the fundraising total. The "Rookies" team followed close behind, raising $6,813. The St. Croix Valley Lumberjacks team, a Special Olympics Minnesota delegation, brought in $4,912, while the Oak Freezing Fireworks group raised $3,775.
