VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — The Vestavia Hills Board of Education took time during its Jan. 31 meeting to recognize several teachers and community partners for their recent achievements. The Board honored the following: 2021-22 Teachers of the Year Vestavia Hills City Schools recently selected its 2021-22 Teachers of the Year. The individuals selected for this honor are chosen by their peers at each respective school. Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year are then chosen by a district-level committee and move on for consideration to be 2022 Alabama Teacher of the Year. The state winner will be announced later this year. The $155,378.25 donation is the largest grant award in the Foundation's history. Grants will fund professional development, classroom technology and equipment, STEM Lab kits, outdoor learning enhancements, and furniture for multipurpose learning spaces. Kelly Services Substitute Teachers The Vestavia Hills Board of Education expressed its appreciation for the school system's substitute teachers employed by Kelly Services. Substitute teachers serve in many roles throughout all nine Vestavia Hills schools.
