Description

Well known manufacturing company seeks Supplier Quality Engineer to investigate, analyze, and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing non-conforming material trends, and managing supplier corrective actions. Will lead continuous improvement projects with the supply chain. Job Responsibilities: 1. Manage the supplier approval process and maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL) regarding suppliers meeting acceptable quality standards. 2. Develop long‐term supplier relationships and meet with suppliers to resolve quality problems. 3. Communicate with suppliers regularly to address any quality concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships. 4. Issue and monitor supplier corrective action as needed. Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conformances. 5. Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes. 6. Establish specific supplier quality goals and work with suppliers to continually improve. 7. Participate in the resolution of supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply. 8. Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to support supplier capability of consistently meeting Company requirements. Projects may include process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6‐Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events. 9. Work closely with engineers to prevent non-conformances of material from suppliers. 10. Generate, monitor, communicate, and improve key supply chain KPI’s in accordance with corporate objectives. 11. Monitor, communicate and improve Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) KPI. 12. Present supplier performance to executive management during management review and discuss trends and action plans. 13. Maintain and update Company’s supplier audit system and schedule in accordance with Company's Supplier Performance Management Procedure. 14. Conduct supplier audits to ensure suppliers and their supplies remain in compliance with required quality standards. 15. Represent the Quality Department in the MRB process and work with Engineering and Operations and other departments as needed to determine disposition of non-conforming material. 16. Participate in regulatory audits and lead the supply chain portion of the audits. 17. Work with the supply chain to ensure material received complies with applicable restricted substance lists such as RoHS and REACH. Also, maintain Company’s conflict minerals reporting. 18. Ownership of CAPAs related to the supply chain. 19. Additional tasks as assigned by the Quality department leadership. Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or bachelor’s degree in a business-related field plus CQE certification. 2. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 3. Advanced computer skills including Excel techniques such as charts and pivot tables for reporting and analyzing trends. 4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 5. Strong organizational skills. 6. Knowledge of various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, 8-D, DFMEA, PFEMA, PPAP, etc. preferred. 7. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people, and be able to function independently of direct supervision. 8. Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to travel abroad. 9. 2+ years of experience working with suppliers in a manufacturing environment. Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: 1. Ability to lift 25 lbs. occasionally 2. Little or no exposure to hazards 3. Typical office work environment
