MOORESVILLE, NC — A 17-year-old male was arrested and now faces a dozen charges after he and two other suspects fled a Mooresville neighborhood early Friday morning, leading police on a high-speed chase. According to Mooresville Police Department, a resident of the Stafford at Langtree called 911 early Friday after seeing a suspicious person on her property. When officers arrived in the neighborhood, three suspects got into a vehicle "and almost struck one of the patrol vehicles while attempting to flee," an MPD statement said. Police pursued the vehicle, which had been reported stole out of Iredell County, as it drove onto Interstate 77 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle hit a guardrail and the suspects got out and ran from the scene, police said. One of the suspects — the 17-year-old juvenile — was apprehended in the parking lot of Caliber Collision in Cornelius. Police later learned that he was wanted on a Juvenile Secure Custody Order, MPD said. The juvenile was transported to the Alexander County Juvenile Detention Facility, where he was charged with 11 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, along with one count of attempted breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
