It is when God releases you to your own insanity and darkness because you have rejected him for so long that you've seared your own conscience by dwelling in wickedness and non-repentance. The Lord says "Have at it" and the depraved mind goes deeper and darker losing all touch with what is real and right and you sink deeper into that pit of darkness because your were unaware that you needed God that entire time and cutting him off was cutting your own last life line.
