Guitarist looking for band

Description
At least send me a diatribe about what a dick I am, that's so much more illuminating! Anyway, I’ve been playing for about 17 years (I'm 30), and consider myself a professional, whatever that means. I have reliable, good-sounding gear, a reliable car, practice space, no looming court dates, all that good stuff. I have plenty of time to dedicate to the right project, though I tell myself I’m beyond trying to “make it”; really I just want a band that lasts more than 6 months, and doesn’t have to try out new members every 3 weeks. I planned to be a guitar god when I grew up, so I cut my teeth on the usual canon--Van Halen, Satriani, Vai, etc. I studied classical theory for a couple years in college until I couldn’t stand playing voice-leading exercises on piano anymore. Basically, I never figured out tritone subs well enough to keep up with the jazz cats, and I play too many extended chords to feel like I fit in with the rockers anymore. I love complexity, but generally avoid music for musicians; I’m happiest making music that’s enjoyable for players and listeners alike. Some of my favorite artists are Steely Dan, Fiona Apple, Minus The Bear, Courtney Barnett, Iron Maiden, Toto, and Vulfpeck. I rarely get into anything heavier than Megadeth or mellower than Astrud Gilberto. I write some on my own, and have plenty of half-finished ideas to play around with, but I really write best with others. What I write tends to favor odd time signatures and chunky chords, kind-of-sort-of like The Police if they were into math rock instead of reggae. I would love to find a few people to flesh out ideas with, and record them. I’ve played in so many bands, but somehow have no recordings I can share without a boatload of caveats. I’d like to change that, so hopefully you have a bunch of half-finished ideas too, and we can create a monster. Other guitarists, I love you, but I think I want to start by finding a bassist and drummer. Old guys, I love you too, but I think this time I want to play with folks closer to my age. I’m open to joining a band too, as long as there’s space for me to write and get creative—basically, I just don’t want to play the last guitarist’s parts note for note, or be a backup musician. Shoot me an email, I’ll rustle up some recordings of my playing, and we can go from there! Really just looking to play with vaccinated folks right now (besides, if you’re not vaccinated at this point we probably wouldn’t get along all that well anyway)
