Looking for small puppy/dog

My husband and I have been thinking of adding a dog to the family. If we find the right fit we are willing to pay a rehoming fee of course. I am seeking a toy or small size dog or puppy with short hair that is friendly and healthy. We have a cat and the dog will get a lot of love and have a buddy at home when we are gone. We have a yard but the dog would be inside mostly. If the dog is older we would prefer that it already is socialized and has some basic training. I am not picky about the age at all but we just want a quiet, well behaved pet that will laze around with us and go for walks and car rides. Thank you!
