Are you responsible for any underutilized or idle industrial or commercial property? Do you suspect or worry that the site may have some level of contamination that may hinder its ability to be put into a more productive use or sold? Property owners could use a clean bill of health to help develop or sell the property. The City of Orem is offering no-cost site testing and assessments made possible with a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency. If contamination is identified this may make the site eligible for federal environmental protection agency assistance grants for further evaluation and for remediation. However, there is usually no obligation to act on the findings until redevelopment of the property occurs. The value of a testing and assessment grant can range from $1,000 - $8,000+ depending on variables such as the size of the site and other factors.
