GPISD's dancing mindfulness is an embodied mindfulness practice for parents. No dance experience is needed.
GPISD Counseling Center is very excited to offer a Dancing Mindfulness support group to parents and families of GPISD's students.
Dancing Mindfulness is a trauma informed, fun, movement practice involving dance, music and community. We practice non-judgement while relieving stress, being brave and exploring. Dancing Mindfulness can bring healing to those who need it as well as being an outlet. Often people find that they get what they need from the practice. The practice is adaptable to many ability levels.
Participants have reported a reduction in stress, anxiety, depression and pain. But Dancing Mindfulness is not a replacement for therapy or medical treatment.
What to wear: Comfortable clothing that you can move in, barefoot is recommended, or shoes. Socks are not recommended especially on hardwood floors. You may bring water to stay hydrated.
