What runner hasn't dreamt of crossing the finish line on Boylston?! I am one of many who hope to do just that on April 18th at the 126th Boston Marathon. Not to just fulfill some crazy dream, but to do it while helping Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund fight cancer. Cancer sucks. We all know it. It's something that has affected so many of us. We have lost family and friends to this disease while some of us have friends and family battling it right now. I think of the survivors in my life and where they might be without the research and treatments developed by organizations like Dana-Farber. I think of the parents that have to experience the nightmare of a cancer diagnosis for their child. What can we do to help them? One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research. I also think of the focus on prevention. Many of the same things that will help me get ready for this, my second marathon, can help with prevention. Proper training, proper nutrition and proper recovery. My goal is to get under 4:00 and yes, the time doesn't REALLY matter, but I will do this in my 50th year, so I want to do it right. Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
