Funny how some people can be sold something that is next to useless but still believe they are the smart ones in the crowd.
If a way is found that enables us to generate abundant electricity by means other than fossil is discovered and batteries developed that will take you over a thousand miles on one charge, electric vehicles may then replace most internal combustion vehicles.
I for one would be more than happy to see that happen but until it does, we are stuck with engines that require oil and oil derivatives. It would be great to have a vehicle that does no harm to the environment, makes no noise and will be less inclined to break down.
The EV's now available can only transport you maybe 200 miles before leaving you stranded. Even less if you use the a/c, heater or lights.
Most trucks are bought to use as a work vehicle. The estimated miles you can get on a full charge is without a load and without accessories. Hook your elect truck up to a trailer to pull a 4,000 load and you reduce your miles by over two thirds. You might make it to the work site but most likely you will be sitting beside the road on the way home waiting for someone with a gas or diesel fueled generator to spend the next three or four hours charging your batteries.
