Coal is still used to produce power but the percentage of coal produced power shrinks every year. This is not due to politics as some people hope you will believe. Power producers realized DECADES ago that coal is an antiquated way to produce power. No new coal power plants have been built in over 34 years. No new coal power plants are being built now.
Power companies have moved to renewable energy because it is cheaper to produce and because coal mining poses a huge risk to human health.
Despite Donald Trumps claim to rebuild the coal power industry, power providers moved away from that technology years ago. Trump failed to do his homework before making that promise.
It is interesting that any person would advocate for coal power. The is evidence that coal power has become politicized. But it is not a political issue. Extremists are grasping for arguments.
